What is MIU PET?
MIU PET is a pet supplies brand with products such as grooming tools, leashes and collars. You might remember my past reviews of MIU PET when I wrote about its pet shower and its de-shedding brush. These are products I still use on a regular basis.

MIU PET dog nail clipper review
My thoughts on the nail clipper:
The nail clipper from MIU PET is high quality, durable and sharp.
It is “scissors” style (vs. guillotine style). I prefer the scissors style because it seems stronger for my large dog’s thick nails.
I’m not a professional dog groomer, but I worked at a dog grooming facility for a couple years. I got stuck doing dozens of nail trims, so let me just say that a good nail clipper is necessary!
What I like best about this particular clipper is it can trim the nails of my cats and my two large dogs (a weimaraner pup and a Labrador mix) with ease.
You should also be able to use this clipper on most pets. It might be too small for extra large breeds like great danes.
What is the cost? – Use code MPMUTT20 for 20% off
The nail clipper is available on Amazon on sale for $14.99. You can use code MPMUTT20 for an additional 20% off through Oct. 15. This is a great value for a high-quality nail clipper. It also comes with a nail file.
I had never used a file on a dog’s nails before. My dog Ace has thick, brittle nails and sometimes they end up a little jagged after a trim. The file is actually really helpful for him (also because he puts up with it).

What’s unique about this nail clipper?
It’s made of stainless steel and durable.
It doesn’t have a cheap, plastic handle, and instead of a cheap spring between the handles, it has a metal plate that works like a spring to pop the clipper open between cuts.
I like that the clipper is fairly small, so it fits comfortably in my hand. However, the “mouth” actually opens wider than most of the other nail clippers I’ve owned. This makes it easier for me to trim my 70-pound dog’s nails. Our older nail clipper from another brand is actually a bit small for him.
My dog Ace has large paws and thick, brittle nails. It’s difficult to find a clipper that works well for him. I’ve had some nail clippers that can’t even cut his nails even though they were marketed to “large breeds.”
Why it’s important to have a high-quality nail clipper
A cheap or dull nail clipper is dangerous because you might end up breaking one of your dog’s nails.
A broken nail can be painful, or worse, it can become infected. Unfortunately, Ace had a broken nail and infected nail bed last year. The vet had to pull the entire toenail off! I believe the initial broken nail was caused by our dull nail clipper at the time. 🙁
Pros of the MIU PET nail clipper:
[check_list]
- High quality, durable stainless steel
- Sharp
- Works well for cats and dogs (up to at least 70 pounds)
- Rubber grips on the handles to prevent your hand from slipping
- Metal plate between the handle works as a spring to pop the clippers open again after cutting
- Comes with a nail file.

Cons:
- Might be too small for XL dogs (works well for my 70 pound Lab mix)
- There is no “guard” on it to limit how far you can cut on the nail. I actually prefer no guard, but it might make some people nervous.
Would I buy this product?
Yes, I would definitely buy this nail clipper. It’s better than any clipper I’ve ever bought in the past. It’s durable, sharp and professional. I can use it on all 4 pets.
Would I recommend the product to others?
Yes, I would recommend this nail clipper. It’s important to have a high-quality nail clipper. I don’t think people realize how harmful a dull, cheap nail clipper can be. It can injure your dog and make nail trims so much more difficult.

I'm kind of afraid of clippers. My dogs will put up with the dremmel tool, but I can never get them as short as I'd like. It seems like a clipper could be disastrous is you were to cut off too much? A niece of ours took their dog to the vet and they clipped the 16 year old dogs claws, no problem; and they were very long... no bleeding, no problem. I'm jealous, ;). My dogs are both around 60 pounds, 9 and 11 years old. Isn't clipping nails for trained professionals only?

I'd say most pet owners clip the nails themselves. It's definitely not something that needs to be done by a professional, but it's totally fine and sometimes easier to have a professional do it. I just can't bring myself to pay $15+ for a nail trim!

I need these! I bought a pair of nail clippers for my small dog and they were so dull they wouldn't cut the first nail. I was going to buy a new pair this weekend but now I will wait and see if I win these! :)

I've been trying to get my dogs use to nail trimming at home. They can sense I get nervous, because their nails are black and difficult to know how far to cut. I good nail clippers would surely help.

MoJo would love to win, but only because nail trimming is closely followed by yummy treats.
