Cute DIY Halloween Bone Garland Using Milk-Bone Dog Treats

Do you decorate for Halloween? And do you make any of your decorations?

Let’s just say I don’t craft. I repeat: I do not craft.

I need someone there to hold my hand and tell me what to do and basically make whatever it is we’re making for me.

But, I did manage to make bone garland using Milk-Bone treats when the company suggested the idea. It even turned out fairly decent, so I’m guessing most of you could pull this off with even better results!

Want to give it a try? It’s so easy, and I really enjoyed making these.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• A box of medium or large Milk-Bone biscuits. You could also try the small size, but they might crumble more easily.
• Needle and thread (any color)
• Push pin (Those colorful thumbtacks with longer ends)
• Safety pin
• Scissors
• Thimble

Directions:

Pick out 15 or so Milk-Bones.

For each Milk-Bone:

• Push the push pin through the hole on the end of the biscuit. It won’t make it all the way through, so flip the biscuit over and use your best judgement to push the push pin through on that side as well.
• Take your safety pin and use that to re-poke through the hole. This should make it all the way through the biscuit. Do this on both ends.
• Use your needle and thread to either create little chain links between each biscuit or to thread all your biscuits together by stringing the thread behind each biscuit. I decided to create little links.

There are probably a dozen other ways you could do this.

I’m sure the right type of nail or drill would work to create the holes through the biscuits, but I don’t craft and I’m no handy-woman, so the above method worked for me.

Hang your bone garland across a shelf, above a fireplace or anywhere else you’d like to decorate!

The biscuits are pretty heavy for hanging, so I recommend hanging them on those little suctioned hooks or perhaps nails. I was able to make it work with tape.

If you’d like, you could even paint the Milk-Bones white prior to stringing them.

Of course, be mindful of the material you use just in case a sneaky dog or cat steals your garland and eats it (Beamer!).

I think the garland would look extra cute in a veterinarian’s office, at an animal shelter or at a kids’ Halloween party. Also seems like a fun craft idea for kids. Hey, if I can do it, they can! 🙂
