Pic-Pet Camera app makes various sounds to get dogs and cats to look

Camera app available for Androids and iPhones

I’ve been using the Pic-Pet Camera app on my Android phone over the last week or so. It’s also available for iPhones and iPads.

Pic-Pet is a fun app that makes various sounds to capture a dog or cat’s attention. The sounds, such as a squeaky toy or a meow, make the pet curious. Ideally, this causes the pet to tilt his head, look at the camera, etc.

To take a picture, you just tap the photo icon on the screen, the app makes a sound and then it takes the photo. There is purposely a slight delay between when the sound goes off and when the picture is taken, which you can adjust in the settings.

The app is easy to use. I’m not very tech savvy, and I figured it out quickly.

More about the Pic-Pet Camera app

The app is easy to use, and it does work pretty well depending on the pet.

There are three noises to choose from for dogs such as a squeaky toy and three options for cats such as a bird and various meows.

It’s funny, because when I take pictures of my cats I totally meow at them.

The app:

1. eliminates the need for you to keep making ridiculous noises.

2. is currently available in the Amazon App store and iTunes for $0.99 for a limited time (price will increase soon).

3. makes it easy to share pics on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter right from the app.

Here are some pics of my cats Scout and Beamer taken using the app:

What I like about the Pic-Pet app

  • It’s great for pets like mine who basically ignore the sounds their owners make during photos.
  • It’s a nice option for getting pics of shelter animals. That squeaky toy sound really gets dogs’ attention!
  • The app is an easy way to get pics of clients’ dogs if you’re a dog walker, pet sitter, etc.
  • It takes surprisingly clear photos. I’m impressed!
  • What I don’t like about the app

  • The company uses obvious stock photos in its marketing vs. photos that were actually taken with the app.
  • I’m used to free apps, so I’d be hesitant to pay $0.99.
  • You have to save each photo manually or it’s lost when you take the next one (It was purposely designed this way so you’re not scrolling through 100s of photos later).
  • Would you like to try this app for taking pictures of your pets?

Everything I see about this app is eight years old. I think if there’s any is it still supported? Does it work with recent phones? It’s exactly what I want and I can’t find any other app like it.

I'd love to try the app! I think Haley has learned to totally ignore almost all of my crazy, attention getting noises, lol!
